Dear New York State Elected Officials:

I am writing to express my support for the Seneca Nation as they negotiate for a fair and equitable gaming compact with New York State.

The Seneca Nation is a vital part of the Western New York economy. For the past 20 years, the Seneca Nation has led the way in revitalizing our region by investing almost $2 Billion to build their casino facilities in Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Salamanca.

Today, nearly 3,000 Western New Yorkers work at the Seneca casinos. These individuals and their families depend on the casinos for the wages they use to support their families and to build a bright future in Western New York.

In addition to being one of Western New York’s largest employers, the Seneca Nation spends millions of dollars each year with companies across Western New York and beyond. Their casinos brought new life, energy, and people back to Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and Salamanca. The revenue generated by the casinos stays here to support our communities. It also sustains important services for the Seneca people, who have always been our neighbors.

The Seneca Nation and Western New York deserve a fair new gaming compact. Our region cannot afford to lose the Seneca casinos and the jobs and benefits they provide. The Senecas’ success is our success. Don’t set Western New York back.

I urge the New York State Senate and Assembly members to stand with the Seneca Nation and to press Governor Hochul to negotiate a fair and equitable gaming compact. Together, we must build on what has been achieved thus far and keep our entire region strong and successful for years to come.
